Constructed for the 1976 Summer Olympics, the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec is an icon, playground, and seemingly a continual lightning rod for controversy. Currently undergoing a multi-year, nearly billion dollar renovation to replace its roof, the Olympic Stadium is once again receiving international attention for its distinct architecture and design.
With some major changes ahead, I dove back into my travel library to revisit several of the photo essays I shot documenting this landmark just prior to this renovation. In addition to these images of Montreal's Olympic Stadium, I also captured the Olympic Pool and the 360 degree views from the observation deck atop the inclined Montreal Tower.
