From the Top of the Vessel at Hudson Yards in NYC

Opened in 2019, the Vessel was an attraction built as part of the Hudson Yards redevelopment in New York City. These images are from that opening year when access to the top of the structure was unrestricted and the observation deck was a social media must-share.

Unfortunately, a string of suicides at the site resulted in the closure of the Vessel in 2021. Today, the Vessel remains a landmark of Hudson Yards, but visitors are no longer able to climb these stairs and take in the views as they did when it first opened. While new safety nets and preventive measures have continually been discussed, the future of the attraction is a contentious topic and it remains unclear whether the Vessel will reopen. These images showcase the landmark as it looked when it first opened to the public in 2019.

Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita, Kansas

Located inside what was once the Wichita Municipal Airport, the Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita, Kansas is a really fascinating museum to explore. In addition to the various aircraft and artifacts on display, the building itself is a beautiful example of art deco architecture.

Kansas Aviation Museum Wichita Airplanes

The Administration Building / Wichita Municipal Airport which now houses the Kansas Aviation Museum, was built during the 1930s when Wichita was both a strategic stopping point for flights crossing the United States and a significant hub for aircraft manufacturing. All of this activity earned Wichita, Kansas the nickname 'Air Capital of the World' in 1928 when 1 out of every 4 aircraft being built in the United States was coming out of Wichita.
