Opened on May 24, 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was completed. Spanning the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge is the southernmost crossing linking Manhattan and Brooklyn with more than 100,000 vehicles, 10,000 pedestrians, and 4,000 cyclists crossing it daily.
Completed in 1982, the Sunsphere in Knoxville, Tennessee was built as the centerpiece for the 1982 World's Fair. The gold-glassed sphere houses an observation deck and event space, and has continued to be one of Knoxville's most recognizable landmarks.
