City and Colour in Medicine Hat, Alberta
Last night City and Colour put on a hell-of-a good show at the Canalta Centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I jumped at the chance to photograph another incredible act touring through our fair city. Here are a few concert highlights I captured of City and Colour performing.

Way Down South: An American Road Trip
Over the last two weeks I found myself on another incredible photo journaling adventure, this time road tripping my way through the American South and Midwest. I flew into Atlanta, rented myself a car, and proceeded to drive a 5000 km (3100 mile) loop through 13 states, shooting content in over 30 communities along the way.
Beginning in Georgia I drove east through the Carolinas, detoured through the Great Smoky Mountains and into Tennessee, headed north through Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, and then followed the Mississippi River south into Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee again, and finally curved back around to Atlanta through Mississippi and Alabama.
A trip like this actually requires considerable planning - thankfully last year's Pacific Coast road trip made that aspect easier. Anyone can cover a lot of distance, the challenge is in giving yourself enough flexibility to actual stop and explore as you go. Everyday I had one or two main places I wanted to hit, and a final destination I wanted to reach by the evening. I even gave myself additional days in Atlanta, Nashville, and Memphis as I knew there was more to see there, and that I'd want a few non-driving days to give myself a break.
From Churchill Downs in Kentucky to Lincoln's Home in Illinois to Elvis's birthplace in Mississippi, the places I visited could not have been more varied or iconic to their locations. I've done some incredible travel shoots and road trips in the last couple years, but few have overlapped to become quite as ambitious as this with such an elaborate timeline. I mostly say that because I'm still pinching myself that it actually all went to plan. It was an amazing experience!
The resulting trip lead to thousands of new images and is going to be a huge part of my new Middle America travel photography series. Much more on all of that to come. In the meantime, consider this (along with all of my Instagram posts) to be a teaser.

9 Years of Editing Luke
There's certainly something to be said about starting a website in film school, and then not just maintaining and updating it for 9 years, but having it become the backbone of your own media business. That's exactly what happened though, and I'm still amazed at how this passion project has continued to evolve and present new opportunities year after year.
I remember sitting in my dorm back in 2007 and wanting to start a blog to share the videos I was shooting in film school. I was also trying to drum up support for some of the film festivals I was entering at the time. Editing Luke reached 10,000 people in that first year, and little did I know that my photo essays, documentaries, travel edits, and general ramblings would eventually accumulate hits into the millions. At last count, over 34 million so far.
The greatest lesson I've learned in this process is that personal growth is a continual investment. The goals and focus behind Editing Luke have changed numerous times in the last 9 years, but this site has always motivated me to do more. From shooting photo journals abroad to telling unique stories with video, Editing Luke has always been an elaborate work in progress. If anything, it's kept me accountable to my own ambitions. And with over 2000 posts to date, it's also become a massive library of original content.
A lot has happened in the last 9 years, and I mostly wanted to post this to say thank you. There's no way this would have continued if it wasn't for the support, engagement, and feedback that I've received while doing it. Original videos, photography, and content have always been at the centre of this online journal and I can't see that changing anytime soon. So really, thank you. Editing Luke wouldn't be what it is now without you. Explore more here.
