Seaview Beach, Washington

As  we headed further north along the 101, we stopped in Seaview, Washington to visit the ocean one more time. A thick fog was now blanketing the coast, giving the sea and sand a silvery glow. Mike and I took some time to ourselves and walked the beach, waded through the water, and soaked in the cool ocean air.

This was the one time on our road trip that I actually had us pose for a couple of shots. I felt the location captured the iconic view I had in my head. This was what we hoped our Pacific Northwest road trip would be like - and then there we were. We made it.

Jimi Hendrix @ EMP Museum in Seattle

The Jimi Hendrix exhibit at Seattle's EMP Museum is something pretty special. From Hendrix's instruments and clothing to highlights from his career and even his personal record collection, Hear My Train a Comin': Hendrix Hits London is focused on Hendrix's prominent rise to fame in the UK. The Seattle born artist is remembered for hits like Purple Haze, Hey Joe, and The Wind Cries Mary - and it was cool to learn more about the man behind these classics. 

Heritage Park: Paddlewheeler

Having been to Heritage Park in Calgary back when I was a kid, I don't actually remember ever riding on the paddlewheeler. So, on a return visit a couple of weeks ago it was something I was excited to finally do. 

The S.S. Moyie is a half-sized replica of a paddle boat used by the Canadian Pacific Railway to ferry passengers on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia. Today, visitors can take a short ride around the Glenmore Reservoir to get a feel of what it would've been like to travel this way. I have to say, it's probably a lot more fun to ride the paddlewheeler when you're not in a hurry to get somewhere.
