Adventures in the Southern USA
When I kicked off my Middle America travel photography series a few years ago it was inspired by a road trip through the American South. This series has since been expanded upon dramatically with numerous road trips that have followed. Of course, there are always random odds and ends in the mix that never find a home. Here are just a few extras I found from travel shoots in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and Mississippi. More here.

Gaffney and the Giant Peach
On the road between Atlanta and Charlotte, I stopped to check out this impressive 135 ft. tall giant peach water tower, better known as the Peachoid, in Gaffney, South Carolina.
As far as novelty roadside attractions go, this giant peach seemed worth a quick Instagram. It does look more inappropriate the closer you get to it. Lady parts and butt jokes aren't uncommon either. Interesting side note, Gaffney is Frank Underwood's hometown in House of Cards and the Peachoid was actually part of a plotline in episode 3 of the series.
