Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park
Located in Atlanta, Georgia you'll find the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park. Stretching several blocks within the Sweet Auburn historic district of Atlanta, the site is comprised of Martin Luther King Jr.'s boyhood home, the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he and his father were pastors, Fire Station No. 6, a visitor center, and the King Center, where Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King are interred.
The impact of Martin Luther King Jr. on the American Civil Rights Movement was monumental, and his words continue to enlighten and inspire to this day. As you enter the Ebenezer Baptist Church recordings of Dr. King's speeches echo throughout the building. It's easy to lose yourself in the passion of his delivery and place yourself within the narrative of that time.
There's no question that parallels can still be drawn in the social issues of today, however I found the visit to be an uplifting and profound experience. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park celebrates a leader who inspired millions of people to demand a better tomorrow. It's a message that resonates more than ever and makes this site a must-see in Atlanta.
