Illinois State Capitol in Springfield

Located in Springfield, Illinois, this is the 6th building to serve as the capitol since Illinois became a state in 1818. Construction began in 1868, although it would take 20 years for the building to be completed. On a growing list of capitols visited around the United States, I didn't want to pass up the chance to at least walk up these steps while in Springfield.
