Constructed in 1856, the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City, California is one of the oldest lighthouses on the west coast. Reachable by foot during low tide, the lighthouse is open to the public when the land bridge to the small island can be crossed. As a gateway to the Redwoods of Northern California, Crescent City (including the Battery Point Lighthouse) is a beautiful community to stop and explore along the Pacific Coast Highway.
