Today this history still resonates in Pearl Harbor and throughout Hawaii. On a trip to Oahu this year I photographed some of the notable landmarks around this iconic naval base including the USS Bowfin Submarine, the Pacific Aviation Museum, the USS Missouri Battleship, and of course, the USS Arizona Memorial. Pearl Harbor in 50 Images
On the morning of December 7, 1941, beginning at 7:48am Hawaiian time, the Japanese launched their surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. The resulting battle significantly compromised the American Pacific Fleet and directly lead to the United States entering World War II.
