Occasionally described as Canada's alternative to Burning Man, this electronic music festival features six epic stages that truly come to life each night complete with lights, artwork and costumes. The scene is overwhelmingly positive, eccentric, and memorable with over 10,000 people making the pilgrimage each year. If you can dream it, this is the place to be it.
Armed with media passes for our inaugural Shambhala, my friend Brandie of MHZINE and myself (for Editing Luke) put ourselves in as many locations as possible. Kicking off in downtown Shambhala each morning for coffee and people watching, we'd then wander down to the river for a bit or mingle in the press tent. By afternoon we'd already have a few stages under our belts, and as the energy picked up everything became about prepping for the over-the-top evenings at the Pagoda or the Village (my personal favs).
There was rarely a moment we weren't wandering, exploring, staring, dancing, snapping pictures, or doing some elaborate combination of them all. I shot literally thousands of images and after the haze lifted I realized I had enough material to put together a 10 part photo series about this incredible experience. Without further ado, here was Shambhala 2015 through my lens.
