Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump: Part 1

Showcasing the history of the Plains People, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage and archaeological site located a short distance from Fort Macleod, Alberta. The site features an amazing museum that depicts the history and significance of the buffalo jump and the hunting practice used by the aboriginals of the plains for over 5,000 years.

I hadn't been to the museum since my elementary school days, and found the history of the site especially fascinating this time around. Buffalo were strategically stampeded off of the cliff in communal hunts, which was an amazing practice, especially when you see how much work it took to actually achieve. It's an amazing location in southern Alberta, and well worth your time to come and explore some of the earliest history this part of the world has to offer.
